Warehouse Spray Foam Insulation in Georgetown and Round Rock, TX

A warehouse has a huge roof, tall ceilings and big doors. In Central Texas, that roof soaks up sun all day and passes the heat down into the building. If the warehouse is air-conditioned, the cooling bill climbs fast. If it is not, the space can get hot enough to slow down your crew and damage stock that does not handle heat well.

Centex Insulation Solutions uses commercial spray foam insulation to help warehouses and storage buildings in Georgetown, Round Rock and along the I-35 and SH 130 corridors stay more comfortable and efficient. Spray foam seals and insulates the roof and walls in one step, keeps out heat and moisture, and does not sag or settle over time.

Dale and his crew did a great job on our insulation. There were a few unique challenges posed by the size and layout of our attic. The Centex team creatively worked to make sure the job was done right and quickly.

Where warehouses lose the most energy

  • The roof. It is the largest surface on the building and takes direct sun all day. In most warehouses, this is where most of the heat comes in.
  • Seams and joints. Gaps where the walls meet the roof, along panel seams, and around pipes, vents and fans let outside air in and cooled air out.
  • Old insulation. Faced fiberglass that is torn, sagging or wet loses much of its value.
  • Doors. Dock doors and overhead doors are large air leaks. Spray foam does not seal doors, so good door seals and dock shelters matter too.

What spray foam does for a warehouse

  • Lower cooling and heating costs in warehouses that are air-conditioned or heated.
  • Lower inside temperatures in warehouses that are not, which makes the space easier on workers during Texas summers.
  • Protects stock that can be damaged by heat or moisture, such as electronics, paper goods, food packaging and paint.
  • Stops roof condensation that drips onto products and makes floors slippery.
  • Seals out dust, birds and pests that get in through gaps.
  • Less strain on your HVAC. With less heat coming in, your units run less and may last longer.

Closed-cell foam for warehouse roofs and walls

Most warehouses, especially steel warehouses, have metal roof decks or metal wall panels. For these buildings, metal building insulation can help control heat transfer and moisture while improving indoor comfort. Closed-cell spray foam is usually the best fit because it bonds to metal, blocks moisture and gives about R-6 to R-7 per inch. (R-value measures how well insulation blocks heat. Higher is better.) It is also light, so it adds very little weight to the roof.

Open-cell foam gives about R-3.5 to R-3.8 per inch and costs less per inch. It can work in parts of a warehouse, such as office areas finished with drywall, where sound control matters and the foam does not touch bare metal.

Fix the roof first

Insulating around your business

Most warehouses cannot shut down for a week. We plan the job to limit downtime:

  • Work in sections so part of the building stays in use
  • Cover racking, stock and equipment before spraying
  • Use lifts to reach tall ceilings safely
  • Talk through scheduling options, such as working outside your busiest hours
  • Give clear re-entry times so your team knows when each area is ready
    Roof and Ceiling Insulation Options

Roof and ceiling insulation options

Warehouse roofs and ceilings are major areas for heat gain, especially under large metal roof decks. Closed-cell spray foam can be applied to the underside of the roof to create a continuous insulation and air seal, helping reduce heat transfer and moisture problems. In areas with an accessible attic or ceiling cavity, blown-in insulation can also be an effective option for adding insulation above the ceiling and improving temperature control. The right approach depends on the roof design, existing insulation, ventilation, and how the space below is used.

Fire protection and code requirements

Warehouses are commercial buildings, and building codes usually require spray foam to be separated from the inside of the building by a fire-rated barrier or an approved fire-protective coating. New warehouses and some renovations must also meet energy code rules, which set a minimum level of insulation. Foam must also be kept clear of sprinkler heads, light fixtures and electrical boxes. We go over what applies to your building before we quote, so you know what is needed for inspection.

What affects warehouse insulation cost

  • Roof and wall square footage
  • Ceiling height and the lifts needed to reach it
  • Foam thickness needed for your comfort goals or the energy code
  • Fire-protective coating, if required
  • Prep work, such as covering racking or removing old insulation
  • Working in phases or outside normal hours

Warehouse insulation FAQs

Is spray foam worth it in a warehouse that is not air-conditioned?

Often, yes. Foam on the roof cuts the heat coming into the building, so the space stays cooler during the day. It also stops roof condensation, which protects stock and keeps floors dry.

In most cases, yes. We work in sections, cover your stock and racking, and set clear times for when each area can be used again.

No. Closed-cell foam weighs about 2 pounds per cubic foot. A 2-inch layer adds only about a third of a pound per square foot.

It depends on the size of the building, the ceiling height and how much prep is needed. We give you a timeline with your quote and plan the work around your schedule.

Usually not. Foam needs to bond to a clean, dry surface, so old faced fiberglass that is torn, sagging or wet normally has to be removed first. We check your current insulation during the site visit.

It depends on how much insulation you have now, how the building is used, and how much it is cooled or heated. Warehouses with little or no insulation usually see the biggest change. We can talk through what to expect for your building.
